Skylar Roebuck graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in Computer Engineering specializing in FPGA programming, microcontrollers, and VLSI design. While in school at VCU, Skylar chose to specialize in FPGA based UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and partnered with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International to develop a new high-definition imaging system for helicopter platform UAVs.
Skylar Roebuck continued his studies receiving his masters from Carnegie Mellon University in engineering and entrepreneurial business while earning the prestigious Swartz Fellowship in the Tepper School of Business. It was at Carnegie Mellon, that Skylar met other Alumni including Sarjoun Skaff (Bossa Nova Robotics) and Bill Seibel to start Mobiquity.
Skylar helped grow Mobiquity, a global mobile development company, into a 500+ person company by leading product development. As part of Skylar’s contribution, he led program direction for one of the largest digital medicine systems built with Otsuka and Proteus called the Abilify Digital Pill. As part of this effort, Skylar coordinated large healthcare platform technology teams with simultaneous work streams including primary sensor development/testing, native development, server development, architectural design, component selection, clinical trials, human factors in engineering testing, FDA preparation and cycle management, HIPAA compliance preparation, medical board approval, branding, partner integration, support and release management. Mobiquity was recently acquired in 2019 for $186M.
Skylar went on to found Rocket Wagon with the goal of bringing IoT (Internet of Things) products to enterprise. Rocket Wagon went on to become an award-winning digital innovation company and served as a launch pad for many different global initiatives and new ventures.
At Rocket Wagon, Skylar built digital solutions many industries including fintech, healthcare, crypto, consumer packaged goods, retail, manufacturing and more. During this time, Skylar started key ventures including Medikit, which enables remote patient monitoring for clinical trials, and Visipill, a connected pill monitoring system for improving pharmaceutical compliance and adherence. He has also built game changing technology in highly regulated and emerging industries. In 2017, he led the creation of the world’s largest cryptocurrency ATM network in the United States and the only ATM infrastructure to be awarded the coveted NYC BitLicense (awarded by NYDFS) joining industry leaders Circle, Square, and Coinbase. Later, Skylar continued to help build the initial community hub for Cardano for it's ICO.
